As mentioned,

How far will the ti drop in price? I ask because I'm quite tempted to sell my 290. It would seem that the ti is the only card capable of running BF4 on Ultra preset, 1080p, at a consistent 60 frames....and I kind of want this. I had no idea the card I own would struggle so much with the game at this preset ( in times of intensity obviously ). The drops from 70plus to 40ish are annoying. I don't always play with settings max'ed, in mp I actually play on medium, but I really want the peace of mind that comes from knowing my graphics solution is relevant at the highest end, and could be for some time. I shudder to think about the next iteration battlefield or farcry!

Assuming a fair price reduction, my hope is that it settles at 600 or better yet 550, I think I would opt into one. If not, I'd likely look into buying another reference 290 and just doing a custom cooling setup. Surely there are some of you here who've observed such pricing changes in the past with subsequent generation card releases, so please comment.

I bet it will stay the same. For a while at least.

The tears... are made of blood.

Thanks for the reply  :(

Why do you think GTX780 Ti is the only card that can run Battlefield 4 on ultra preset 1080p at consistent 60 frames? I was monitoring my frame rates with GTX780, everything on Ultra, 2xMSAA, 1080p. Doesn't go below 85.

Also, if you playing Battlefield 4, add me on Origin - zeroL0GIC  :)

Ya the flagship GPUs dont usually drop in price much unless you pick one up used.  Ex. GTX690, Titan

You might get lucky and get it on clearance (I remember NCIX had a warehouse sale and sold 680s for about $250, or newegg selling 7990s for $550)

Really? Could you take a screen of your game settings or list them? I just use the preset, when I auto detect it puts everything to high basically and even then I dip below 60 it's kind of upsetting. I might have to sell and opt into a 780 although the 290 does have some physical advantages.

I do and I will! Nice to see an enthusiastic battlefield player around here :) Try as I may I can't get away from it!

Edit, oh and what do you use to monitor your frame rate? I can't get afterburner to work on 64bit, I use the command prompt

That sounds low for a 290.  I disabled one of my 780s to see what kind of frames I get at 1440p and Im pulling minimum 60, didnt try at 1080p would assume its more.

I'm going to look up some benchmarks, are you playing the game with everything max'ed out? On levels where all is quiet I can get past 100 frames, but as soon as tanks and particles start getting thrown around i'm cooked! Should I consider an RMA? I am reluctant because mine has one of the chipsets that unlocks the extra shaders etc.. with a 290x bios ( not that I'd even remotely consider this with a stock cooler lol )

I can make screens. I'm monitoring using ingame command (perfoverlay.drawfps 1) and Mirillis Action.

I realized you do have a superior cpu and more ram. But I am getting the impression that my card is low balling me.

These are some quick screens and they're lame, because I'm in a hurry  :D but you get the picture. I'll be able to capture some screens tomorrow if you'd like. Frame rates drops when I'm in main menu but never goes below 85 when gaming.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, these are with Shadowplay active, so it's recording all the time.

I have to say, I'm kind of hate you right now :P

Wow, just wow. I'll try your settings and see what becomes of it...but I'm not very hopeful. If it's not the case that my gpu just isn't performing to spec than I think the assumption is that the cpu can have a huge bearing on game performance! Thank you for this! Maybe we can get some games in later. I'm in southern california, it's about 1045am but I'll be playing in a few hours.

Honestly guys, BF4 is just HORRIBLY optimized. That's just the truth. Even with SLI 770s i see less than 80 FPS pretty often. I get the same FPS with settings turned way down as i do on Ultra.

I get the same FPS with a single card as i do with SLI......that's terrible.
