Can someone point me to a good beginners guide to OCing? This is something that I am finding interesting and do not want to brick my system Thanks

I am a disabled Vet who had his hands crushed. Typing is not the easiest thing. So if I misspelled something please understand. Thank you.

1. Are you talking about CPU overclocking, RAM overclocking, GPU overclocking, or a combination of these?

2. What's your system's specs (overclocking can be different depending on the platform)?

3. Why do you want to overclock your system?

Being retired I have A bit of time on my hands some days. I am looking to learn this a sort of a hobby. My system is Inel/Nivida, and I'd like to learn all sides of it if I can.

Sure... what's your PC's specs? I can tell you about GPU overclocking because specs don't matter too much, but CPU and RAM overclocking will vary from platform to platform.

Here's a short GPU overclocking guide:

- Download MSI Afterburner and Unigine Valley Benchmark.

- Increase the core clock by a bit at a time (maybe 25MHz at a time) and same goes for memory.

- Then stress test your GPU (run Unigine Valley Benchmark) for some time.

- If the application doesn't crash, then your overclock is stable but if Unigine Valley Benchmark crashes, then your overclock isn't stable.

- If your overclock is stable, keep increasing the core/memory clock.

- If your app crashes, you have two options: either add more voltage or decrease the core/memory clock.

- You can also modify your fan curve in MSI Afterburner (Settings > Fan > Enable user defined software automatic fan control) to your preference. You can make it as silent or loud as you want.

- Keep your temps in check, try to stay under ~85°C when running the benchmark.

Sorry about that..I have an i9 9900k,  on a Maximus Code xi, with 2 2080ti FE and 64gb DDR4 3000mhz. And thanks for the help.

Sorry for the late reply...

Here's a memory overclocking guide (this is very very very very very time consuming):

Here's a CPU overclocking guide: https://www.pcworld.com/article/3186812/how-to-overclock-your-pcs-cpu.html

^And for the CPU overclocking guide, make sure your overclock is stable by running Prime95 for at least 15 minutes.

EDIT: If you need help with anything, feel free to ask me. Thanks!

How come Valley? Is there a particular reason you picked that specific bench test or its just what you personally use?

Well you can use others, if you wanted to or already did. Even if its a personal use it's still a good benchmarking tool

Unigine Valley allows you to compare your score to others, and you can also see how much of an improvement you got with your OC.
