Hey, I've been setting up a Windows XP machine for some legacy software I have to use for a project. I had it working perfectly, then I had to leave for a week, when I came back and turned it on I found that the keyboard doesn't work anymore. The keyboard works on my Win10 machine and other keyboards don't work with the XP. The only time the keyboard does work however is in the bios. The machine is a stock Dell Dimension 3100 that I pulled out of my grandma's basement. Any ideas on what to do?

Try a PS/2 keyboard if you have one as well.

I have a windows XP machine, most the time, I just reseat the USB devices, then they work just fine.

I'll try that, but the mouse works just fine in the same slot, while keyboards don't work in any slots

What type of Windows XP era hardware doesn't have PS/2?

Even modern boards still have at least one.
