Ram placement

I need a bit of help. I bought a used motherboard that has one bent pin. That caused it to lose my 3 and 4 ram slots. It will not boot if I place a ram stick on slot 3 or 4. Because of that, I put my 2 (2*8gb) ram sticks to slots 1 and 2. I was wondering, should I buy 1 16gb stick to populate my ram slot 2 or should I just keep my ram sticks in slots 1 and 2?

About all you can do is use 1 and 2 like you have it, no sense buying a 16GB stick to single channel like you already are.

 

I assume dual  channel is 1 + 3 or 2+ 4 for your board?

I doesn't matter. They're not running in dual channel,so it's the same difference as just having one stick. Have you tried fixing the bent pin?

Like Fixinit1 said, can you fix that pin at all?  Might be worth giving that a shot, and if you F up the board, not a huge loss?

I haven't done that kind of work before and if I mess that up I don't have any budget left for a new one. So at the moment I think I will just work with what I have now

I have 9600k and msi z390 meg ace that I got for 150
