Can't access remote web accesss

Go to solution Solved by GameMaster2030,

Got it fixed, my router is just weird. When I changed the windows server local ip to the same as my old esxi server and it just works. Really weird this.

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to get web access on windows server 2019 datacenter working, but I can't access it when I connect to my public IP.
On my local ip it works fine, but on my public ip I get a time out error. I've got ports 80, 443 and 3389 forwarded. Also my ISP doesn't block ports and I can access my external IP internally because I used the same machine as my ESXI where I always connected to my public ip even when I'm on the same network. Any idea's?

Have you enabled the server on IIS Manager? Are all the ports and IPs correct? Also, are you using an SSL Certificate? Check everything in the IIS manager.

Yeah, everything is correct. It's using the self signed one. I didn't have time yet to set a A record in my domain and get a let's encrypt cert for it yet. I'm also not home and the server is turned off so I can't check anything before I get home.

Okay. How are you connecting to the website via IP or domain?

Well I am guessing the only reason why you cannot access your website is because You're using a Self-signed Certificate. Which is going to throw errors.

The normal IIS doesn't use ssl(the page you're showing), the web access portal does tho. But I can't connect to either of them.

Because you're trying to access your public IP via your internal network. It won't work. Could you show me a print screen of the error once you get back.

Chrome just gives a time out error. I can check it by trying to connect to my external ip by using my cellular network when I'm home.

Okay. This error is usually when you create a self-signed SSL certificate with SHA1 (old encryption) I'll try to access it.

I can access it fine? Try delete browser cache.

The public IP is at your home IP? Well it seems nothing is connected to it. Nothing is open. Not even port 80. It's timing you out because no connection is being made at all.

Go back to your router. Check the ports once again. It seems it is the problem with the ports. Also make sure that Windows firewall is allowing port 80 and 443. Some servers need that for it to work.
