I was looking for example at a 1660 TI from MSI and they have some higher priced models with 'ZERO FROZR' that is a technology where fans stop completely when idling.

Although I game my main PC usage is work and on those hours I really appreciate everything being silent (I got a nice PSU and case fans because of that) but I don't want to spend money on useless things if they are not worth it.

So my doubt is if this 0 DB fan technologies really work and make a difference or I'm going to spend $20 more to get something I can do with a custom fan curve on MSI afterburner or something like that...

"worth" by its definition is subjective. This is only a determination you can make. To me, in your use case, it is worth it.

Maybe I should have phrased it better :)

Worth it in terms of being something 'real' that really works and not for example something I can achieve with a custom fan curve or some fancy software.

Maybe the question should be: does it work and it's the only way to get this noise reduction? Is the noise reduction noticeable in a case already with 1/2 fans working (even at low) ?

what cards will you buy if there's no zero-fan? Zero-fan does mean something to me, but the priority goes to other things like noise levels at full load and customer service of that brand. I'm not sure if you can get zero-fan by flashing another card's BIOS, but as long as you dont use blower coolers, most fans spin down low enough to not be audible in a case even if they do not completely stop.

it help slow down dust accumulation. there's barely any dust on my GPU compare to my CPU fan.
