Cpu temp reaching 85c

Go to solution Solved by Gareque,

Tbh I have the 2600X with a Wraith MAX.  Not stock, but not aftermarket either.

Regardless of whether gaming or idle, it usually sits between 40-60C.  Under extreme temps it jumps to 80-90C.

The thermal limit before continued use damages the CPU is around 95C iirc and the cut off point where it shuts down is over 110C.  Someone even told me they had one up at 130C without it crashing, though I am suspicious of that.

I have a Sahara P35 case which comes with pretty much the same setup.  I added 2 more fans to the top, though tbh they haven't really made much of a difference, so I dunno if it would be airflow.  That said, the MAX 'is' meant to be much better at cooling than the stock, so perhaps an increase of 10-20C isn't unexpected.

If it's not affecting gaming, I wouldn't worry, it's not in damage-territory, so you should be fine.

So i have just downloaded the division 2 and in this game my cpu temp are reaching 85c at times.

other games like apex or pubg iv gotten as high as 70-74c  on my non Oc 2600x with a stock cooler.is this normal?

do need to look into upgrading my cooler already?

as long as the cpu performance is not suffering while at 85c(its probably not thermal throttling)then its fine

This is a little high although it is still safe. The div 2 is very cpu intensive so it should be expected that the cpu is pushed harder. I think you should check your application of thermal compound first and check your case airflow to see if there's anything you did wrong. Etc too much Pste or too many intake /output fans

yes you should look into upgrading your cooler, get some aftermarket thing or a watercooler or the hybrid version… I'm using a be quiet shadowrock tf2 which keeps my cpu r5 2600 at 30 -35 degrees idle and around 45 50 degrees while gaming

Ive been eyeing a corsair aio for a few days now so this might get me to pull the trigger on that

There's like half a dozen Mid Tower cases from Rosewill and your fan setup is also of interest.

/2 will run ur cpu at near 100% in fights, but it is the most cpu intensive game to date, so depending on whether it is summer for you, i was just telling my friend i wouldn't play the game on 144hz during summer and gonna limit the game to 60fps if i do play at all, it's insane, but that's as hot as it gets, i wouldn't be too concerned.

Mines stock 3 in the front for intake one in the rear for exhaust all 120mm

Well, should be enough airflow, though the front looks a bit restrictive due to the glass. You should perhaps upgrade the stock cooler. It's an okay cooler considering it's free, but that's about it. If you really push your system it will start to get toasty. A good air cooler will do, no need for AiO unless you like the look of them.
