GPU Temp

TheVirusNX

Hello, I have a question. I have a 4 year old 290X Lightning Edition that runs around 50C to 52C at idle and seen as high as 86C to 90C under full load at stock speeds. Is that good or bad? I have read that some people replace the thermal paste on them. Would it be worth doing that and will it harm it in any way? I didn't know if my idle temps are too hot and I need to reapply or not. I have 2 intake fans on the front of my case and 2 exhaust fans.

Also I read that the lightning light on the side is suppose to go from green to red depending on power draw, mine is always red, does that even matter really?

Repasting is a good idea since that card is nice and old. Additionally, I bet you could lower the voltage in AMD's wattman to further optimize temps.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Ok. I will give it a try. I have a question not for this forum, but wondering if you could help. Seen you posted on some of my other threads, would that be ok?

I suppose, I do try my best to help. Also, for me to see the response, make sure to quote or @ me so I get a notification.

Ok sorry about that. Anyways, I have a Asus Maximus VII Formula motherboard. I'm new to overclocking and I used the EZ setting in bios, is there a way to reset to base clock? Not sure if it was ok or not, ill post pics of it.

The auto settings for overclocking are never that great because they increase the voltage a lot, so if you go into your AI tuner, you can manually drop your CPU core voltage to 1.2 volts or so and probably be just fine. Otherwise, go to the save and quit menu of your BIOS and hit "load optimized defaults."
