I'm in search for a new laptop and I primarily do programming assignments, watch loads of videos and play a little amount of esport games. I found the Envy x360 with the Ryzen 5 2500u but I'm not sure if it is a viable CPU in early 2019, considering AMD announced the Ryzen 3000 series mobile CPUs? Is it still recommended? Or should I look for the Intel side of ultrabooks that costs around 800USD? The things I must have is SSD and 8GB of RAM. Other specs can be considered.

at that pricepoint its hard to give up the 2500u. from AMD.

i havent seen any news of updates to the Envy X360 linup, but its likely they are trying to get rid of stock now with the sales atm.

the Envy x360 13 inch 2500u is a steal atm.

Envy x360 13! I'm from Malaysia and my budget is preferably around 3000MYR(800USD). I'm currently doing Computer Science so most of the times I'm on an IDE and I do some light gaming. Display size is preferably 14 inch and below and decent 6-8 hours of battery life since I have to use my laptop during lectures.

as long its as least 8GB of RAM I guess. Upgrading down the road is always better but if there's no choice its fine. For the display, as long as its not too colour inaccurate then its fine

So I assumed that you need good sRGB IPS? (since low sRGB IPS doesn't have good colour coverage)

May I know your absolute max budget?

Yes I do need a decent GPU or an iGPU thats why I took a look at the Envy x360 first... But if i were to give up a little on portability there is the HP Pavilion 15 with the MX150 and my uni does have a little discount on HP products

If you want better GPU performance+good battery, you need to sacrifice on display quality (low sRGB IPS). Are you OK with that?
