It doesn't take a whole lot to power a 4k monitor for simple tasks. Just get the bare minimum.
If you have the money you could go 780Ti, but don't expect to be playing any games with a single card.

Honestly the current prospects of Maxwell are not very promising. Waiting is smart though

Any single card is going to have a hard time driving a 4k display (for gaming)

Depends on what you're doing.  If you're gaming, wait, if not then any half-decent card will do fine.

id probably wait to see what maxwell comes up with. if anything it will drive down the price of the 780 ti

agreed but if thats not in budget r9 280 / r9260x would be good for 4k video BUT NOT 4K GAMING if youre wanting to game at 4k id say wait.
