On ASUS website:

 

 

  • Storage
    1 x M.2 Socket 3, , with M Key, type 2242/2260/2280 storage devices support (SATA mode & X4 PCIE mode)*1
    1 x M.2 Socket 3, , with M Key, type 2242/2260/2280 storage devices support (PCIE mode only)*2
 
I also checked the manual, and everything seems to point to the bottom-right M.2 slot being SATA compatable. I'm still not completely sure, so if someone wants to check the motherboard manual, I'm all for it.

If you plug a regular B+M-key sata M.2 drive it will work in either M.2 slot. You can only use one of them for NVME M.s drives though.
