Help with a workstation

Go to solution Solved by TH3R34P3R,

here is what i would go with. more storage, a slightly slower SSD (no one really needs the EVO speeds unless they are doing super computer stuff or transferring their entire collection of movies back and forth daily), a better PSU, faster ram, a better motherboard (with wireless capabilities included), a very similar CPU where you can overclock it to get the 2700x performance, and a better CPU cooler, as the stock ryzen could begin to run very hot under extended workloads with the 2700x.

Yes, it's a bit over budget but it is the best case scenario for the one who needs the build.

Hi guys,

I'd like some advice since it's the first workstation i build.

It's for a friend of mine, that he will use mainly for editing video and post-production (Premiere, After Effect). Obviously he will game on it from time to time. The budget is 1500€

I don't think anythings off. You can add a CPU cooler considering that usage is going to be pretty demanding.

On the side note, why don't you consider a used Core i7 build, one or two generations down, you might be able to save a bunch of money.

The i7 8700 which is at 330€ and the 7700 it's also at 330€ with the respective K at 400€. So, in my country at least, AMD is cheaper

Also, being the first time with an AMD cpu, i though that the stock cooler was way better than the Intel counterpart, and good enough if you don't overclock it

@TH3R34P3R

Thank you!

The motherboard is better just because of the integrated wireless or there is something else?

because I dont mind having an external wireless card, and it's cheaper

it has better VRMs so the CPU will have better power delivery. it also is just a higher quality board overall.

also, always consider marking a thread solved, with a best answer. (i need to add this to my posts from now on so people who have similar needs don't go making threads about the same thing)
