Hello forums!

Randomly, my laptop speakers start making clicking sound very rapidly. It occurs when the volume is set to anything (zero-100). However, it goes away when do one of the following:

a) If speaker sound is zero and it starts clicking: I increase the sound then decrease it back to zero.

b) If speaker sound is >0, decrease the sound to zero and increase it back to normal

These above two methods temporarily stop the clicking (1-2 hours)

These clicking sounds are well... clicking sounds. They're really rapid (1000 BPM) and they don't change in volume when I change the volume on my laptop.

I've tried restarting the audio driver (Realtek sadly ☹️) and rolling back to a previous one. Nothing; just a temporary fix. Restarting makes no difference.

I'm really stumped, any help would be appreciated.

My guess is that the cable is picking up some feedback somewhere. Make sure it's not close to any electronic device like a phone.

I've thought about that but removing any electronics didn't make a difference. I've opened it up and the wiring seemed normal.
