I have a GL502VMz which has an i7-7700hq, 8gb ram and 1060 6gb. My problem is that 2 games i have on my pc make my computer really hot though i only did benchmark one of them i kinda imagine its likely very similar.

So for starters the 2 games are black desert online and overcooked 2. I benchmarked overcooked 2 and after writing this i think i am going to benchmark bdo just to make sure it really is the same.

on some of my other games like borderlands 1/2, dragon quest 11 and time in portia I get average temps like 40-60 which for me is average because my laptop sits at about 30-40 normally( feels kinda high personally).

while my other games push my cpu to 80+ and dont know the temp for my gpu before the benchmark and changes i made were.

I made some changes through intel extreme and found going -100mv was stable and lowered temps to 76-77c but any lower would cause in crashes. gpu seems to run fine at 69c and it doesnt seem to get higher then that but i hear gpus can hold out to 90+ under long and extreme cases.

anyone have any advice.

that's normal for laptops without the best of cooling. Some games just dont push the CPU hard so temps arent as high.

Ok so here is a bit of a guide for you

I own a laptop with similar specs but its an acer

7700hq can take a massive undervolt (I run -.129 on system cache and on cpu) also the 1060 can take a small undervolt also and perform better and cooler. I did this and repasted also (arctic silver MX4) and I dropped about 20 deg.

Realistic max temps in game such as the division 2 I see about 60-68.

Here are some links to get you started to a friends youtube channel just so you get the idea:

Any dramas drop me a line or post here.

Happy undervolting

The repaste made the world of difference the stock acer paste was cancer beyond words

it is a famous toaster...many factors contributed to the high temps

Try repaste
