Gaming/Light Productivity CPU Needed

Hey all

 

Currently i am running a I5-3570/8gb DDR3 ram which is really slowing down on new games and it is noticeable when i occasional use Sketchup/Photoshop.

My current build is:

CPU: I5 3570

RAM: DDR3 8GB 1600mhz

Mobo: Asus P8z77-m

GPU: GTX 970 

 

My plan is to upgrade my cpu/mobo/ram, i was looking between a I5 9600k (£250) or a Ryzen 2700x (£300). I am running a 1440p 144hz monitor and 90% of usage is for gaming with 10% for work such as CAD/Sketchup/Photoshop. 

 

Any advice is welcome and thanks in advance!

Depending on the cad software it may prefer single threaded, and Photoshop isn't a core fiend, so I recommend the i5 in this case.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad

out of those 2 i would say the single core performance of the 9600k that makes it win

 

but the 2600 is a valid option too

i5 will do better for Adobe but the 2700X will have a big lead in anything requiring more threads.

for 1440p you need a stronger GPU instead of CPU only like 1070ti/2060 etc.

The i5 will likely give you better performance for a lot of current applications & tasks with its clock speeds however, I think the 2700x is the better future proof option

agreed, however im just upgrading part of my pc for now and the cpu is really holding it back. But i will look into a new gpu further down the year!
