DDR4 3000 CL15 vs 3200 CL16 w/ 8700K

Hello,

I'm building my first pc  and this are my key parts (I'll overclock):

-Z370 MSI Gaming pro carbon

-i7 8700K delid

-RTX 2080

I'm looking to buy the RAM but I don't know which one to pick.

The cheapest 3000Mhz and 3200 Mhz modules I found are both Corsair Vengeance LPX (2x8GB):

-3200Mhz C16: 130€

-3000Mhz C15: 115€

If there's a noticeable performance benefit I'm totally fine to spend 15€ more.

Consider that I'll overclock the ram (or at least try to do it lol, I've never done it).

I'll mainly play 1080p games at the highest refrash rate possible (if it matters)

Which one would you pick and why?

Thanks!

There won't be much of a difference, just get the 3000mhz C15 and save 15 euros. RAM speed and CL stuff matters more when you're building with Ryzen.

How much can I expect from overclocking the 3000 cl15 and is it worth it in first place to try to do it?

I've never done it but I know it isn't super easy.

Btw 24,000 kills with the scout are you insane? lol gg

I mean honestly, you probably don't need to overclock it. Just enable the XMP 2.0 profile that will let the RAM hit 3000mhz. If you don't have any experience, it's all good. If you really want to overclock, you should be buying RAM like Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM that is designed for overclocking.

Plus, when you overclock RAM, it changes how you'll be able to overclock your CPU.

thanks :)) I've been maining the scout for a year and a half now, my trust factor really dropped after I started..

Yeah, people in the low ranks don't really understand that they're standing still, I just shoot them through walls..

That aside, good luck with your PC! Happy gaming!!
