One of my co-workers purchased an asus m51ac it came with windows 8. He wants to install windows 8 onto an ssd he recently purchased. The bios doesn't offer an option to boot a cd so we can't figure out how to install windows 8 on the ssd.

It comes up with an error saying that the product key is wrong. The computer didn't come with a disk.

What is "it" in "It comes up with an error"?

Treat your local grammar nazi nicely and he might teach you a thing or two. (Note that I'm Belgian and not a native English speaker.)

Don't enter a product key that came with the computer. the COA product key is already encrypted in the BIOS. Or it should be.

The error comes up when I try and boot the usb and as for putting in a product key I haven't done so.

i would suggest using the recovery software the pc comes with to make a set of recovery disks.  i sure it has it some where.  then remove the hard drive put in the ssd and run the disaster recovery.

that should work.
