CPU won’t post!

Go to solution Solved by minibois,

You need BIOS revision F20 or newer for the 2600 to work in the motherboard.

Can you insert the 1500X in the system, confirm that your BIOS is at that version or higher. If it isn't (which it likely is not, if you have not updated it), please update it and it should work.

Otherwise there is more going on, which I do not expect.

I have a Gigabyte Ax370 k5 mobo, and a Ryzen 5 1500x cpu. I was trying to upgrade my cpu to a Ryzen 5 2600x and even after resetting the bios, clearing the cmos by jumper or battery. The system just won’t post. It boots with all fans running and the pump is pumping. What I have noticed is all my peripherals are not working when the 2600x is installed. My Asus 8gb Rx 580 has enough power and works perfectly fine when the 1500x is installed. It’s only when I install the 2600x that the system does nothing but run and not post. When I reset the cmos and install the 1500x the system does a couple boots and than posts right away when going into the bios it clearly states the bios has been reset. When I do the same steps with the 2600x it boots once and does nothing else.

Is is it possible the crappy mobo I have is just not giving enough power to everything?

Thanks for any help.

Thank you seems like I should check for an update. Hope that’s just the problem.

I am actually not sure and have no idea how to. Didnt realize that motherboards had updates I will have to look into that. Thank you

Usually you don't need to do updates, unless things are not working.

Going from one generation to another does require an update, since the motherboard has likely been made before the product exists (a motherboard from 2017 wouldn't have known how to work with a CPU from 2018).
