GPU not reaching maximum potential

EggyRepublic

I'm rendering a scene on Blender, and yesterday I remember getting 1:09 on a specific scene, but today when I rendered it it took 1:53, and when I opened GPU-Z it showed around 90% load and only 70% TDP while gaming or benchmarking put both to 99%. What is happening? I know the scene was the same because I rendered it on the CPU and it took the exact same time as it did yesterday. All my rendering settings remained the same as well.

My setup is:

Ryzen 7 2700X

RTX 2070 Windforce

16 GB DDR4 3200 MHz

650W EVGA G3 power supply

Make sure to have vsync OFF for video card to reach near 100 percent load.  What changes did you make for it to suddenly render so much slower ?

Perhaps you need to boot into safe mode and run DDU "Display Driver Uninstaller" and choose clean and restart and your back into normal mode, now install the latest WHQL drivers and let us know what happens.
