Looking for advice on upgrading

I’m looking for some advice on what the best upgrades would be for my system.

Current specs are as follows:

Cpu: intel i5 6600k 3.5GHz

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth Z170S

Ram: CORSAIR Vengeance RGB PRO 16GB 3000MHz

GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070 8GB Founders Edition

PSU: CORSAIR RMX White Series, RM850x

Cooler: CORSAIR Hydro Series H115i

Monitor: Dell Alienware 1900R 34.1", Curved Gaming Monitor, 3440 x 1440p Resolution, 4ms 120Hz, NVIDIA G-Sync.

I also have 2 SSD drives one being dedicated to my OS along with a 2TB barracuda HDD.

Main use for this PC is gaming. I do get good performance for gaming. I’m looking for advice on what upgrades I should prioritize. I’ve been looking at upgrading to an RTX 2070 but unsure if that’s the best choice over upgrading the CPU and motherboard.

Well first id ask your budget and what you do with it, and like what games you play. If you spend most of the time gaming i would get the RTX because then you could better run games at those high framerates

My budget is around $1,000 for upgrades. Currently I just started playing Anthem which I know the game needs some performance tuning but would still like to see more FPS then an average of 40. I play a wide verity of game but want to be set for the current and next gen of games.

I'd say to get an i7, everything else looks good.

Unless of course, you have more money to spend, in which you should get a new mobo along with that new i7.

what would make more of a performance impact in gaming, upgrading my motherboard and CPU or my GPU?

I would favor getting a GPU like the RTX 2070 you mentioned.  Unless you know for a fact that your current CPU is giving you a heavy bottleneck in games you should be able to wait on that upgrade until after GPU (that CPU should only affect the hungriest of 6+ threaded CPU eating titles).  Also this assumes you game at the 1440p widescreen resolution you have native so only at resolutions at or below 1080p should the CPU be a larger factor, with that large resolution you need more GPU might to push a widescreen above 100 FPS.

That essentially answers my question. Thank you very much for your reply.
