I'd argue that saving programs isn't worthwhile, just reinstall them. If it's a really large game from Steam or similar, then look for their install location and copy it directly.

However, for program settings and such, they're usually stored somewhere in C:\Users\[username]. Copy everything in that folder and when you've reinstalled everything, copy the contents back.

First tell us what is wrong with your system. Maybe we can help with that "corruption".

You can use Macrium Reflect to made image of your whole drive. That image is mountable, so you can mount it on new system when you need some files you're missing. Of course if your system partition is not like 2TB - then it's not worth.

You can also copy users and ProgramData folders if you need only backup settings.

Backing up the programs without settings is not reasonable. When you install programs they add keys to your registry. It would take ages to find them all.

so the only way is to make a system image? :( is there no way to save all programs  and settings but not save windows settings and windows files? i just don't know what to do because i have so many files, programs, and it would take me weeks to re-install everything

Most of programs don't even need to install and copy folders will be enough. Also - only few big programs needs registry entries. Rest of them using it for uninstall process or for set system defaults.

But - you still don't answer my question - what is corrupted?

Sorry for empty quote, I don't know how to remove it using phone. :)

I would also uncheck (apply) then check again (apply) "Allow files on this drive to have content indexed in addition to file properties" box under "properties" of drive. It will take some time to complete.

Alternative may be 3rd party finders - some of them works very good and even faster than windows search.

Other method: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-tms/how-to-restore-correct-permissions-on-windows/d08ae246-397b-e011-9b4b-68b599b31bf5

2019-02-24 21_39_47-Elaborazione in corso.png i've already tried everything from that post you've linked me. also, thing is, the search works if done by the folder index (for example, i click on computer, and look for stuff in the top right)

Something may be wrong with temp folder, try to use disk cleanup and/or manually delete temp folders content.

In case something prevent you doing that, you may use safe mode or even bootable ubuntu to remove that files.

If I good remember, you can find even tools to delete locked folders.

You deleted folder? I was taking about content. Recreate folder and try again.

One more - indexing needs time.

nope, still doesn't work even after recrating the folder. also i've ran the updating tool with the windows 7 iso to repair the system because i read it could help to fix corrupted windows files. but even after i still face the same issues ?
