I am currently running this system

im looking to get better FPs in video games I’m playing and thinking of getting a better cpu would this work?

Do you know what motherboard is in that system? What resolution are you playing at?

 

 

I would strongly urge you to wait for Zen 2 that will be out around July (hopefully). You will gain much better performance for gaming and pretty much everything else. I would not get a 2700X right now, if you absolutely need something better, get a used 2600 and overclock it. I really would just wait, though..

That is hideous, you need 16GB RAM and a SSD my friend.  Or else you got a huge bottleneck.

Also for that config I would get a nice 570 card and OC it to hell and back.

A 590 is essentially a 580 as fausacome has told us.  The 580 or 590 which is no good will suffer a bit from your CPU, but still do pretty good job.  IMO for your CPU a 570 or a 1060 6GB makes sense.
