What happens if I insert higher frequency RAM sticks on a lower freq. supported Mobo?

I have hp 15 ay011tx notebook which supports ddr4 ram 2133 mhz but the ram of my laptop is not working so i was jus asking if i replace the current ram with a higher frequency ram like ddr4 2400mhz since its cheaper then the 2133 mhz so is there any chance that my laptop would stop working.

please help

As long as the new sticks don't require a notciable voltage bump or run way tighter timings, it should work. I bought a laptop a few years ago and upgraded the ram myself instead of paying the premium SI's charge for more ram, never has any issues with it. If the laptop doesn't like them, it just won't boot, most likely.
