Hello, I have my old pc wich runs:

i5-3470;

500 watt PSU;

12 GB ram ;

NVIDIA GTX 650 ti (very old);

And I need a new GPU, but I don't know wich to buy, I want to be able to play games like metro exodus on good settings, if needed I can exchange my PSU, if it doesn't cost to much.

I was thinking maybe a GTX 1070 ti, or maybe a 1080 ti.

What do you guys think I should do ?

(Sorry for bad english)

I would avoid anything higher than RX580 8GB or GTX 1060,since potentially that CPU will severely bottleneck any faster GPUs, and with those two you will have decent 1080p/60 experience.

I'm not sure, but I have some money reserved for the PSU so if needed I will buy a new one.

That would depend on the quality of current PSU.

For thst build + 2060 500w PSU will be enough. I’m running 2700x+2070 off a 550w PSU.

Do you know perhaps what brand your PSU is ?

No sorry, I know it's 500 watt and the connection is 6 pins. I can check but not right now.

RX 570 is an excellent card for budget 1080p, it is very inexpensive (around $100 on eBay) and delivers quite well.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

I think it's always good to change the PSU after maybe 5-7 years of usage.

Tbh I think you will bottleneck pretty much because of your CPU.

Anyway, you should go for a RTX 2060. If you plan to have your GPU for a longer time it's worth to get the newer gen. GPU instead of buying older ones again.

I was looking for something that could handle games good, and last for a while, do you think that's the best option for those things ?

Yes, but that also depends on your game library.

Someone said here that my cpu might be a problem with higher-end cards, what do you think ?

Well I think your CPU needs a upgrade first. I know it's kinda expensive to upgrade pretty much everything, but you will have a bottleneck with that CPU for sure with any new GPU.

How much would it cost to change to one that can support one of the GPU's I refered (1070 ti, 1080 ti, 2060) ? I don't know if  I have the budget to change GPU and CPU

overwatch at high settings, apex and doom at medium. And I cant run metro it staggers a lot (one of the reasons I need to change GPU)

What about trying a RX 580? It's not that expensive but compared to your GTX 650 Ti it should perform way better.

Because I don't think it would make any sense to buy the RTX 2060 or even GTX 1080 Ti if you have such an old CPU anyway.

You should try it out with the RX 580 and maybe upgrade with the saved money the CPU.
