So I've been doing a little research and was trying to find a use case for my RX 580. My thing is I have a GTX 1080 and obviously it does virtually everything better (not to mention my RX 580 is potentially a dud in terms of performance but that's not the issue, it still works).

So I know that an AMD and NVIDIA graphics card cannot necessarily work together with eachother under "normal situations" (aka crossfire and sli). But I've heard that they can still both be used in the same system to do some kind of work. In the case of gaming DX12 was stated to support "mismatch" gpus.

I haven't had luck getting the RX 580 to dp anything in DX12 titles (yes I made sure DX12 was enabled) - Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Battle Field 5. I was wondering if anyone knew how to use both GPUs and if not for this case for perhaps something else? If so HOW.

I forgot to mention my PC:

MB: ASROCK Z270 Extreme 4

CPU: i7 6700K

RAM: 32gb of DDR4 3000 RAM (4x8)

BOOT: M.2 NVME 500gb WD BLACK SSD

GPU: GTX 1080 and the RX 580 (PCIE x8 x8)

Potential use cases for another GPU:

Twitch / Youtube Streaming without bogging down the main GPU

DX12 Multigpu for mismatched GPUs (requires PER GAME support, and very few, if any, games support it)
Temporary SSD storage (https://github.com/prsyahmi/GpuRamDrive)
Put every display but your main monitor on it so frame rate isn't affected by anything happening on the other monitors

Interesting. So I wonder would using the second GPU for other monitors allow for 2 dynamic resolutions? I have a drawing display that I wanted to use for one pc but my main monitor has a different aspect ratio of which doesn't display correctly on the draw screen (basically a wide screen on non-wide screen look). My main monitor is a 1440p 16:9 monitor the drawing screen however is a 8:5.
