I currently have an i5 8400 and a Vega 56.  I just watched a benchmark video where 2060 and a core i5 8600k was running ac oddyssey at 70 fps average.  I run this game at 53 fps average.  Should there be this much of a difference.

Performance should be way better, but remember that the CPU is also better than yours, I doubt that upgrading both is clever right now at high prices.

Every game is different and they have different hardware. You can try to undervolt and overclock your GPU. You can also play with power tables to get more performance. Buildzoid made a video on it. I get more performance than most videos I see about my Vega 64 online.

(X) doubt

You need to "optimize" your settings to archieve that performance.

Here look what I got with my RX480, I got 60fps average, see, PROOF:

No, that's wrong.

Performance shouldn't be (much) better with the same settings!

its the settings that are different.

Just look at how close the 2070 is to the VEGA 64 LC.

ANd look at the Performance.

The claimed 70fps is archieved with something like a

See, look here, I got 71fps average with my RX480:

That should more than prove my point that the settings are very important and you both don't compare at the same settings.

For more infos, you should look at the "Benchmark Report" that AC:Odyssey generates. There you can see the settings in detail.

It looks like you are comparing apples <-> Oranges.

At Ultra high I get 39fps average, 23fps min and 64 max with my System.

So about half of the max I got when running on low...

You have an 8 core cpu.  AC Oddyssey for some reason will not run on 6 cores

The Vega 56 and RTX2060 have similar performance, depending on the game one wins over the other by a bit. In my eyes there would be no reason to upgrade to an RTX 2060 if you have a Vega 56. If you overclock it you can achieve better results. I can overclock my Vega 56 with no issues on a blower card so you shouldn't have a problem in that department.

I have some very bad news for you.

Look:

I deactivated 2 Cores and SMT - and still got no lower frames than last time.

So even with 2 cores less and -10 Threads, there is still not a big difference.

So my point still stands:
its your settings, not the Hardware!
