Hello, I like watching LTT on youtube and I hope I can get some help from fellow pc fellas. I have an Asrock AB350M Pro4 motherboard with a Ryzen 1300x (hey it was dirt cheap) but now that I have acquired enough funding I would like to upgrade to a 2600. Luckily, I have checked before I bought the CPU and found that my board would require a bios update to support it. I have tried to update (with a fat32 formatted, working usb in the 2.0 slot) through Instant Flash but I only get the message that no installation media was found. After multiple tries, I switched to trying to install it through MS-DOS and it could see the file, but when I selected for it to run, it said that the file was incompatible or something like that. I really would like to upgrade and if anyone could help me out, it would be very appreciated! Thanks

With the BIOS upgrades that I have done, coming from an enterprise standpoint, I just obtained an exe from the manufacturer's technician and launched it...auto mount and launch. Wait for it to finish and it's done. If your file is incompatible I believe you have to change environmental variables to suit the specific program you're trying to launch... I haven't done this in YEARS and am not sure if it's still possible to do so.

I have this motherboard, to update the BIOS put the file onto USB, IIRC it doesn't matter where as the utility will search for the update file... so enter the UEFI, and go to the utilities, and bios flash utility I think it's called, it'll search for files and you select the one you want to apply.. and wait.

Also, it doesn't have to be USB 2.0... that's the bios flashback, for if you have a corrupt bios, not for updating.
