Windows 8 Iso problem

So i downloaded windows 7 sucesfully, bought a nice dvd+r disc (which works for burning windowses, atleast it worked on linux) and when i want to burn my iso, it says that the dvd isn't empty, but i formatted it multiple times and it shows no files in it, so should i just extract the iso onto the DVD and boot on it, will that work or fuck something up?

Can't format DVD's like that. If you want to be able to erase it, buy a rewritable DVD.

You shouldn't format a DVD, just put a blank one in then (if you are using Windows 7 or 8) just double click the iso you want to burn, select the drive and wait, if you are not using Windows 7 or 8 then use a program like imgBurn to burn the iso.

If you have put in a DVD-R or a DVD+R and then formatted it then you will have written something to it (even if it is just the format) because it is not an RW that disc is will now show as 'used' even if it is blank.

DVD+R AND  DVD-R are ONE TIME WRITE ONLY

DVD+RW and DVD-RW can be written, erased, and re-written multiple times.

Once you burn something onto a dvd+r disc, you cannot rewrite to the disc.  In this case, you need to get another disc.
