1. Make sure your power cables are connected firmly atx and CPU power. Make sure your motherboard is grounded properly in your chassis on the standoffs.

2. Make sure your heat sink is installed right and has adequate amount of thermal paste.

3. Try booting without graphics and 1 stick of ram.

4. If those steps didn't work try resetting CMOS.

5. Still not working breadboard test each component with mobo speaker and try different psu.

So i am a first time builder and my pc will not post and i'm not sure why. All the fans spin up and slow down which repeats constantly without the pc ever turning off by itself. I have tried using one stick of RAM and putting it in a different slot, i tried with this with both sticks and still no luck and i doubt the both sticks will be faulty. The first time i tried to turn on the pc nothing happened but after a quick inspection i realised i plugged in the 4 pin atx connector the wrong way (i dont know how, but i managed it without realising) could this have caused a fault to occur. I also tired to boot without the graphics card connected and using the onboard graphics but it still did not work.

Try clearing the CMOS. This is done by either pressing a button on the rear I/O or by removing the CMOS battery (You motherboard might not have one) and unplug the PSU from the wall. Then hold the power button for a couple of seconds.

Clearing the CMOS is a good idea, also trying another motherboard might prove to be a good idea, as you may have fried something on this one. Pray that you did not send weird direction voltage through the CPU and zapped it dead.

Make sure you are using the correct 4 pin on the motherboard. Often there are multiple connectors.

Boot on 1 ram stick, video card OUT, and using onboard gpu.

Did you get a mobo speaker so you can hear post sounds?
