Faulty HDMI cable usually, probably damaged port or windows update have you tried newest drivers?

I would just uninstall the newest windows updates, no need to reinstall windows.

actually ive noticed that when i hold the hdmi tight towards the graphics card it the problem seems to get resolved temporarily

Try another cable. Use another interface.

So it’s the hdmi port if vga works. Assuming you are converting dvi.

Does this occur in the bios, or just in windows? If it's in the bios, your HDMI is probably toasted (assuming you checked a different cable).

 

Try and figure out by connecting a laptop wether the broken port is on the card or your monitor. Buy an adapter accordingly. :/
