Weird Sound Loss Issue

So, when I boot up my PC, I have no sound at all, even with a headset in.  BUT, if I restart it, it completely fixes everything.  I've checked all my drivers via Device Manager and they all claim to be up to date.  What's the culprit?

i5 8600k

16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 2400mhz

ASUS STRIX GTX 1070

Asrock Pro4 Z370

Corsair Spec-02 Mid ATX Case

Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO
