So can't really find any good info/guides of setting it up, but I have a friend that's streaming and was wondering if he could gain some performance by using the Intel IGPU for h.264 encoding while streaming.
He got a 8700k and a GTX 1060 and mostly works fine, but some fps drops in CSGO makes it hard at his level.
Also he is using Streamlabs OBS, so any links or knowledge would be great.

PS: do not know if this is the correct place to post, so feel free to move if incorrect.

The OBS forums have a guide on how to do it, I'm not sure if Streamlabs OBS is different enough that this doesn't apply.

There are also some motherboards that don't have VRMs for the internal GPU so you can't use this, not many, but they are out there.

Edit:

Oh hey nevermind Streamlabs decided to take that feature out for reasons unknown.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Oh that's just great... why remove a feature that would help a lot of people as there is quite a few lower end systems that still have an IGPU and could really use it, I can't understand this....

is he already using the nvidia NVENC encoder? there shouldnt be that many drops in fps

maybe change to very fast\lower resolution in game and or for the streaming?

CPU: i5-4690k @ 4.4 GHz | RAM: 12GB DDR3 1333MHz | GPU: Sapphire Pulse RX 580 4GB

He is currently using cpu encoding, but for some reason he doesn't get the alternative to change encoding speed.
when he used gpu encoding it got pixelated and the gpu got really overloaded on other games that used the gpu more...
It works fine for most games, and he is streaming at 720p 60fps with a 3500-4000 bitrate he has good internet 150/150 fiber...

im not sure how much the igpu would help in this case anyway, but maybe just try using 720p30, 1080p30 could even be better than 720p60, he just needs to do some more testing with his settings

yeah 30fps on FPS shooters look really terrible, so that really isn't an option, well it could help as you leverage HW that currently isn't doing anything...
but since sobs doesn't support it, I might just have to get him to OC the cpu, and give CSGO some dedicated cores...

He had a setting wrong in obs then.

If he can’t change the speed. Needed to be lowered quite a bit to play and encode on the same system. I’ll have to look at it once I’m home though.

Plenty of YouTube videos that go into detail of the settings and how to use the right ones.
