SSD or CPU COOLER?

Wr0ngEnemy_

Should I get 240 gb SSD https://www.links.hr/hr/ssd-240-0-gb-western-digital-green-wds240g2g0b-m-2-2-5-545-mb-s-051400582 (on sata 2 mobo)

or a cpu cooler: https://www.links.hr/hr/cooler-arctic-cooling-freezer-34-esports-duo-s-1150-1151-1155-1156-2011-2011-3-2066-am4-bijeli-050903388 (for overclocking)

I cannot decide, now I have 85C (max temperature while gaming) temperature with i5 750 OC'd to 3.9 ghz with LL-CC-95 cooler while in game example: overwatch, or should I buy SSD so my whole pc is faster?

I would get a beefier cooler, or maybe save up for a newer platform.

how do you mean newer platform?

Well, the i5 you have is like a lil over 10 years old.  I was saying maybe save up for like DDR4, post haswell intel or ryzen, and a cpu for the appropriate socket.

i will upgrade to ryzen 5 2600

Good choice my brother. Stock AMD cooler can handle mid overclock fine too.

I would get the cooler because you're getting pretty toasty and likely throttling around 85c.  I would get an SSD after you up to a ryzen 5 2600/mobo/ram.  The ssd would help with transfer speeds, load times, and boot times.  However, heat and other performance aspects are your issues right now.

yea my load times and boot times take ages

Well, I still would get the cooler first.  If you want you could get the SSD linked above next then go ryzen after.  Or, lower your oc a bit, just get the ssd, and then up to ryzen.  Also, I'm not sure if your mobo supports m.2.  So, you might need a sata one like the one aezakmi linked.

is it worth going from 3.9 ghz to 3.6 ghz? for temps

well that one is over my budget by 15 euros

save, that WD is crap

the cooler will be kind of pointless if you upgrade to ryzen this year

ASUS X470-PRO • R7 1700 4GHz • Corsair H110i GT P/P • 2x MSI RX 480 8G • Corsair DP 2x8 @3466 • EVGA 750 G2 • Corsair 730T • Crucial MX500 250GB • WD 4TB

Buy SSD, mount it over the CPU so it helps to dissipate heat.

(sorry, but you already got all the useful answer I could think of ?)
