Toshiba Satellite laptop stopped working suddenly.

Hi Techies, got a conundrum for you.

A little while ago, my Mum's Toshiba Satellite C850 suddenly stopped working. She said she didn't knock it around or anything, and I believe her.

The system just sits there, with no internal/external display output. The CPU fan is running, as if the system is locked up.

Troubleshooting done as follows:

  • Swapped RAM for known good sticks. No luck. Even reseated original sticks.
  • Reseated CMOS battery. Nothing.
  • Unplugged battery and ac adapter and held down power button for 30sec to try and discharge any leftover power. Nothing.
  • Tried to run without SSD and DVD drive. No dice there.

Any ideas? I'd hate to have to break it to her that her laptop is cactus and she has to get a new one. The last time it was working it was shutdown properly.
