Hello everybody,

I bought a 2nd hand pc a while back. The motherboard has 4 slots in it and the person bought 4 x 2 gb of Ram. So I was thinking if I want more Ram, I just take 1 stick out and put an 8 gb one in. One of my friends is building a completely new pc and had ddr3 memory. So I wanted to buy one 8gb stick from him (but first test if it worked). The ram I've got is a Kingston HyperX ddr3 1600 mhz (OC to 1866), and his ram stick is a Corsair valueselect ddr3 1600 mhz. When I tested it, the combining didn't work. when I just put them in separately it worked though.

My question for you computer masters is, "is there a way I can let these Ram sticks work with each other the way I want? and if not, Is there any way they could work together?"

Thanks for the help

Hidde
