The RTX cards dying were mostly for the first few batches of cards, the rest should be fine

A 1070 should be able to handle 1080p ultra in most games(some games it can’t, I think my 1070 got 45-55 fps in just cause 4 at 1080p ultra).

If I were in your situation I’d get a 1070 or 260

I would  recommend an rtx 2060 for future proofing

Yeah, like the GTX 680??
Look at where that is.

Futureproofing and nVidia in one Sentence is an Oxymoron. They are the Opposite and work on planned obsolescence.

Or have you forgotten the Witcher 3 Desaster, where a GTX960 raped a GTX780??

Sad that people still not realize what nVidia is doing...

So to be blunt: IF you want to "futureproof", you get an AMD Card. Those don't get worse when the next gen is out.

RTX 2060 is way cheaper for me and im leaning towards it but just afraid it might die

Than get the VEGA and use that...

Or save money and get an RX570/8GiB.
