External GPU build help needed

Hi,

 

I'm looking to create a gaming setup which includes an external GPU and a 2 in 1 style laptop/tablet. I have no experience with this sort of thing so could use all the help I can get. I have watched linus' recentish video about an external GPU setup so I have a basic idea. Could anyone recommend any laptop/tablet that would work?

What would be the difference between laptop or desktop on this one ?
