P20 Pro RAM Problem

Go to solution Solved by Darkseth,

I don't see any Problem here, instead i see a good working Ram Management.

Not used Ram is useless Ram.

It is GOOD, that so much Ram is actually in (good) use - beause it's filled with Cached data and Apps, that will be instantly up/ready, when you open them.

If 80% of your Ram would be empty, every App start would be slower, because it will have to reload from scratch.

That is the reason, why these "Ram Cleanup Apps" are 100% useless Garbage, that will do more Harm than good. They actually slower your device, and cause higher battery Drain, because the CPU will have to work everytime again by opening Apps over and over, and loading them into the Ram.

--> Delete them, don't use them. Android itself manages Ram very well already :)

Which process uses up how much Ram, you can see in th settings.

Should be "Settings --> Memory --> Memory used by Apps".

But i'm not sure if that's the patch on Huawei phones. My Oneplus has this under Developer Settings, which you have to unlock first (Phone info --> tap a few times on "Build Number")

Usually, after a fresh Reboot, you would have more free Ram, because there's "nothing loaded yet". This will show you, that your Ram management works flawless.

After a while using it, there are Data from all your recently used Apps, so they're ready to use whenever you open them again.

If you would now (on your screen) open a huge Game for example, and it needs more Ram than there's free available, the Android System itself will close older Apps in the background, making room for the new App.

Hey guys,

I know that other people have previously had problems similar to this but I've been unable to find a solution that directly fixes mine...

At my last upgrade, I switched from an iPhone 7 to Huawei P20 Pro, my first ever switch to Android, which I do not regret in any way.

It is my first Android but I like to think I know my way around the phone by now but I have this problem which, may not really affect my day-to-day use but really gets on my nerves...

When running Idol with no apps open (okay, I know there are probably many other processes running), the phone is telling me that of the 6GB of RAM in the device, a massive 4.87GB is being used!!!!!

Does anyone know what could be using all this RAM or if this is a glitch or any way that I can sort this issue out?

I have tried using multiple RAM cleanup and monitoring apps but none have fixed the problem...

Any help in the matter would be greatly appreciated :)

I see, I guess I just had completely the wrong end of the stick.

I knew I didn't trust these apps but they had surprisingly high ratings on Play Store.

Cheers for clearing it up
