My last system I built is about 8 years old. So I want to buy and build a new one. I am going to keep the old one as a backup and media server box.

I mainly game on my machine. Occasional photo and video editing stuff and use some 3d printing software. Play music and movies, etc. I am using an Acer GD245HQ monitor running 1080p@120Hz.

I have an extra Zotac 1080ti that I will be using for the GPU. Here's what I am looking at getting. Any advice or things to look out for with this setup? I like things quiet so I will be getting a few Noctua fans to use in the case. Thanks for any help and advice! Also, where's a good place to get cables and cable management accessories? I like a nice clean interior too.

This is just a minor aesthetic choice, but if you're caring about the inside looks of your system, and judging by the tempered glass case you are, I would recommend swapping out the Noctua NH-D15 for a Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4. Basically identical price, noise, and performance, but looks much nicer.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's a nice setup, but I would use a Gigabyte Aorus Z390 board instead. They're pretty much the best Z390 boards in terms of VRMs and overclocking. As for cables, you can get cable extensions like I'm using where they just hook up to the end of the existing cables (cheapest route) or you can buy a set of cables to replace your PSU cables but then you need to make sure you get a PSU that you can find cables for. Cable extensions it doesn't matter what PSU you use and it wont effect performance, it just makes the cables a little longer. Cablemod.com sells them, Bitfenix has cables and extensions. You can search Amazon for pretty much all of them.

I bought a pair of extensions on Amazon:

My suggestion is that you pick up a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Board. They absolutely destroy every other Z390 board for overclocking. Even the lowest tier Aorus Z390 board, the Elite, is better than all the Asus boards for overclocking.

Also, get a better PSU and a copy of windows 10 off of eBay to save ~$70-$80.

I'm pretty sure the dark rock pro 4 will block the trident Z RGB RAM since it's pretty tall. The fan on the noctua cooler is more modular than the dark rock pro 4 if I remember right, allowing the fan to be moved for the RAM if needed.

Looking at TechPowerUp's review it seems like Trident Z is basically the tallest RAM that fits, still might not be a great idea though.

I think the Pro model have a little cutout just for this reason. Memory clearance.

I was going to swap out the brown fans for the Noctua black fans.

I swapped the memory to Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory,  the mobo to a Gigabyte - Z390 AORUS PRO WIFI and the PSU to a SeaSonic - PRIME Ultra Titanium 850 W 80+ Titanium.

I had heard that some of the Z390 boards aren't compatible out of the box with the new I9's. Anyone run into that? I also heard some boards will have a setting that slows down the system and you have to change it. I can't remember but it was something like making sure all cores run at the same speed or something like that.

I am just nervous figuring out all the different settings and stuff having been almost a decade since I built a system. I am clueless on overclocking stuff at this point.

There was a new version of the dark rock pro 4 shown at CES this year, so maybe it's for sale now? Not sure.
