Just got 2 8700k's , ROG STRIX Z390-E gaming mobo , and a Corsair H100i.  My budget is $1,000 - $1,500. I have my old PC to take parts from, if the parts are compatible. Having 2. 8700k's was thinking build one as cheap as i can so I'm able to game, then max out the next build over time. Really cant wait to try Intel as I've had AMD all my life! Biggest problem I've had is with GPU price's VS productivity. Not really wanting to spend that much on GPU without advice or more research!    Any help with the build or just knowledge of parts, GPU - Memory - Storage - Power Supply "speeds, prices, compatibility ETC." Would be greatly appreciated.

PS. Any monitor opinions/suggestions would be awesome. Kinda in the dark there as well. Is it pointless to have nice GPU with crap display? "60-120hz"

Games : CS GO, Forza, GTA V, Tomb Raider, any and all High Res Games

id probably stick with R9 Fury X, its about as good as a GTX1070

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Your title seems to ask something completely different than your long paragraph.  It's unclear to me what advice you want or if you came here to point out the deals you've found by buying two of something you didn't really need 2 of.  The title suggests you want to know if your old parts are trash?  By what standard?  The CPU is very outdated but is fine for 2nd hand non-gaming build I guess.  The RAM for that motherboard is actually DDR3, not 4, that AMD chipset is far too old for DDR4.

You didn't give enough detail about budget or gaming needs for a proper GPU recommendation.  The motherboard you picked is a bit overkill for 8700k considering Z370 would have been enough unless you wanted built-in Intel Wifi AC (and Z370 still supports 9th gen after a bios update).  You listed the parts so randomly it's hard for me to tell what you already bought and what else you have yet to buy.

Perhaps a re-phrase would help?  It shouldn't be this much work to read and understand a post.

Fury X according to benchmarks is actually almost equal to RX 590 so not even quite as good as GTX 1070 (let alone a good used deal on a 1070 Ti on eBay).

If you want to go one tier down to the 2070 it's still quite good.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Cant say im super up to date on benchmarks but the R9 Fury X used to be comparable to a GTX 980TI which was close in performance to the 1070

https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-R9-Fury-X-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1070/3498vs3609

Rated at generally 21% faster GPU (1070).
