I'm going to the US in a few weeks and I'm trying to decide which VR to buy when there because they're all much cheaper than here in Italy.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and a PC with Ryzen 2600x with rx580. I'm mainly interested in sitting games like Project Cars 2, Dirt Rally and Elite. I don't have much space for walking and swinging my arms around...

For about 100$ I can get the GearVR and add 30$ for Riftcat but I tried it with a Cardboard (virtoba X5) and it was ok, didn't always work reliably and the phone felt really heavy on my face. I also have to pull the phone out of it's case every time I want to use it which is a pain.I can stretch to 350$ and get a Rift, but that's nearly 3x as much.

I'm not so interested in VR sets that aren't going to work with the PC and I have to do this by end of February when I'm there. WMR seems dead.

- Has anyone tried GearVR with the Note 9 and the rift? Are they heavy / as comfortable as each other?

- does the resolution /screendoor change notably between them?

- Is the Rift at 3x the better choice?

Thanks for the reply. Vive is too expensive. Going to Oregon in 3 weeks, Rift is $350 new. With no sales tax there that comes in at €305, so 2nd hand for €30 less without shipping doesn't really seem worth the inherent risk.
