Hello, I have a early 90' laptop from my Grandfather but it doesn't have a hard drive and i can't find where to buy one, probably because they don't exist on the market anymore. So i wanted to know is there a way to use a usb flash drive as a hard drive? I tried installing windows 98 once but when i boot and go into bios there is no option for boot order.

If it's from the early 90's it doesn't have any USB ports and it probably isn't powerful enough to run Windows 98.

Depending on what the model it is you might be able to use one of these IDE CF adapters

Send us a picture, we can't guess what kind of drive it takes from your topic start. Make and model would help a ton.

Laptops of the early 90's can use either SCSI or IDE. The former is somewhat more difficult than the latter, but you can get adapters for both to make them boot from a CF or SD card adapter.

Those are bad news unfortunately ? If the MOBO doesn't offer that option is because it cannot boot from USB. We would need to double check with the model number of course but I am almost sure it doesn't support USB boot.
