Hello, First topic! Anyway, I looked through old topics but couldn't find an answer for my specific question:

I have 16GB (2x8) of Flare X RAM running at 3200 14-14-14-34 (XMP), but I like to leave a million chrome tabs open, and I've got a student license for ArcGIS, which loves to eat up RAM, too. I don't want to close chrome every time I use ArcGIS, so I plan to get another 16GB of RAM. However, I don't want to spend $200 when prices are more reasonable now, but my exact set is still $200. So, my question for you is, should I buy a set rated for 3200 and timings closer to those of mine and try to get them to run at 14/34 like this: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231902 or should I get a set rated for higher speed and see if I can tighten up timing significantly at 3200 like this: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232742

My system is:

CPU: Ryzen 7 2700x

GPU: Aorus RX 580 XTR

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-AX370-Gaming

PSU: Thermaltake 600W 80+ gold

RAM: G.Skill Flare X 2x8GB 3200C14

Any help is appreciated.

You won't get a non b-die kit to behave like the b-die kit you already have.  You'll have to loosen the b-die kit's timings to match the weaker kit you'll be adding.

And adding more RAM will only make things more difficult so it may mean you end up running slower speeds with looser timings.
