Hi, so i recently upgraded my motherboard (from an ASUS H370M-Plus). My previous OS was on my ADATA SX6000 128GB MVMe Drive. When I upgraded my motherboard I installed a fresh new OS onto a new SSD (2.5"). I haven't touched my old NVMe drive after I upgraded my system. I know with some motherboards you need to be conscious of installing SATA M.2 drives as they occupy some SATA ports but since this is a PCIe based drive I don't think this is an issue.

I wanted to format the drive, but when I plugged it into my new motherboard (ASUS Z370-P) it shows up on device manager as "REALTEK RTS5761 NVMe Drive RL6358AAN". On Disk Manager it is showing up as a unknown 252MB partition which I cannot format or anything. The only option it is giving me is to initialize disk as either MBR or GTP, but both do not work and an error of "Data error (cyclic redundancy check)." comes up. I tried 3rd party software to access the device and nothing is working.

Is my drive broken? It was working fine for over half a year on my old motherboard and I have had no problems with it previously.

Please let know what I should do before requesting an RMA.

Thanks!

You can try reseating the drive and see if that fixes things. If that doesn't fix anything you can open command prompt and type

diskpart
(wait for diskpart to start)
list disk
list volume

and post the results of the command here.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well that's a thinker. It's still showing up as a 250 mb drive, so formatting probably won't help. My only thoughts are try reseating the drive again. Realtek makes SSD controllers, so it looks like it's showing you the SSD controller instead of the SSD storage, which definitely shouldn't be happening.

I will just say this, I don't trust the REALTEK SSD controller from the reliability point of view. Probably some firmware bug or firmware corruption. Just send it for a warranty. You could probably try flashing the firmware, but that could void the warranty (they can say that you did it to kill the drive, and send it for warranty), and that isn't guaranteed to help.

Hi @Ja55ie,

Got the same issue with that NVME (realtek rts 5761 nvme drive). It is showing 252MB Unallocated. and im unable to initialize.

Have you solved your issue? if yes, can you share it here.

Hi, unfortunately I did not fix the issue and had to chuck the drive. If you have warranty though I would suggest RMA the drive if you can.

IF YOUR SSD LOSE SSD NAME LIKE "ADATA " THIS MEAN YOUR FIRMWARE LOST .YOU MUST RE MP

UPDATE ONLY AVLABLE ON "WRITE PROTECT OR BAD BLOCK TO MUCH"

OPEN MP CLICK AUTO DETECT .TO READ NAND FLASH ID
