Underperforming 980TI

I have a EVGA 980 ti classified card which I believe to be underperforming severely and I am looking for advice.

 

I have recently started looking into the performance of my card as things have been a bit lackluster recently. A run through Heaven benchmark gives me a score of about 1000 points. On further investigation, in GPU-Z the performance cap is tagged as “power”, the TDP is about 50% and the GPU core clock falls to about 600Mhz.

Has anybody come across this before or am I at the stage where I need to get a new GPU.

 

The PC doesn’t suffer from crashes or anything like that, CPU is a 4790K @ 4.7 but GPU performance is very sad ☹

Could be your power supply or your temps. Can you post a screenshot of HWMonitor while the Heaven benchmark is running?

Temp peeks at 68 degrees and power supply is 1300W. Im going to borrow a current clamp from work today to see if one of the PCI-E power plugs is not pulling current. I get boot errors if i unplug a power cable so there is deffinetly 12V at the GPU. It is like half of the GPU isnt working. If i set the power limit to 141 (classified max power limit) the tdp will ocasionaly go up to 70%. I not sure if thast is how power limit relates to TDP but it was something i observed, but i had been working at it for a few hrs by this point and maybe sending myself round in circles. I will get screen shots when i get home from work.

 

Question: Does the power graph ever go above 100% even if the power target is set to 141 or whatever. Is the graph 0 - 100 of the current power target or is it 0 - 141 of the power target if you get my meaning
