Can't open media files

Hello everyone

 

My girlfriend recently bought her first gaming laptop but for some reason she can't play any media files (mp4, avi or mkv) 

 

When using windows media player she gets a green screen but the sound plays and when using VLC she get a black screen with audio. 

 

She can see the video when she disables her integrated GPU in the device manager but when she does that she gets very poor FPS in games. 

 

Things I have tried:

Update driver for both the integrated GPU and the normal GPU

Update windows

Windows troubleshooter

Have you tried downloading K-Lite Codec Pack? 

One of the first things I install and never had an issue with playback.

We've installed that pack and still nothing. 

 

Any other suggestions?

Rereading your part missed the intergrated graphics bit. Have you tried updating /reinstalling drivers?

It could be related to the gfx switching/passthrough that happens in laptops.

I've updated the gtx 1050Ti in there using geforce experience but havent tried updating the integrated one. I suppose I'll find the drivers online somewhere?
