So recently I bought a new motherboard, cpu, and ram sticks. Everything turned on and ran fine, until I noticed that my network wasn’t showing as connected. I have an Ethernet cable from my modem to the LAN slot in my computer, but it still says no connection. I went into the Device Manager to update the driver but my adapter isn’t showing up. I read that windows should automatically detect any networks, but it just isn’t there, any ideas? I’ve rebooted my computer 3 seperate times, each time plugging the Ethernet cable back in.

Check BIOS?  You could also test the network connection most likely since most new motherboards allow for network configuration for the purposes of BIOS updates.  I'm used to seeing the option to turn off WLAN via the motherboard, but maybe your BIOS has a setting for turning off the LAN as well.

Also, maybe your motherboard has two LAN ports and you've got it plugged into the wrong one, as on dual NIC boards most of the time only one is enabled.  I don't know, because you provided no model information or pictures.

I’m new here sorry, a friend told me that people are very helpful here so I figured i’d try it out. I checked bios and the only option I could find was “LAN Option Rom”

I'm sorry, did I come across as snooty or rude?  If so I apologize.  Do you know what motherboard you have?  Also, did you check on the back of your motherboard to see if you had two LAN ports instead of one?

If you’re referring to the side where all the ports are at, there’s only one LAN port. Also I have a B360 msi

Gaming Plus

Ok, three things:

1) On the back of your system where the LAN cable plugs in, do you see any lights on the port (usually green or orange)?

2) Try downloading these drivers, unzip them and run the install file.  It's possible that Windows doesn't have the correct drivers needed to run the LAN port and the reason you don't see it under network adapters in device manager is it's under some other category as an unknown device: http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/Intel_Network_300.zip

3) In the BIOS: Settings -> Advanced -> Integrated Peripherals -> Onboard LAN Controller.  Make sure that it's enabled.  That option SHOULD be directly above the LAN option ROM toggle.  If it's not present as shown in the manual, then there's something else strange going on here unless it's actually a B360M Gaming Plus.  Might be different then.

1.) yes there’s an orange light and a yellow light that blinks every few seconds.

2.) I can’t really install anything as I have no backup computer with working internet, I might have to go somewhere else and copy it onto a USB.

3.) All that is already enabled. I did it before coming on here.

Well, yes, if you have lights with a cable inserted we know the hardware itself is enabled, so that takes care of both 1) and 3).  I would go ahead and get the drivers then from another computer.

Alternatively there's usually a CD that comes with the motherboard with drivers.  They're usually older than current, but that might get you running.

I don’t have a cd port installed, so my best bet is a USB.

Ah.  That's the way it goes sometimes.  You might want to download all the relevant drivers for your motherboard from MSI's website while you're at it then just to save time.

If that doesn’t work, can’t I just use a NIC instead? At this point i’d Rather just use wifi connection than a wired one.

Well, sure.  You can use an addon wired card, a wireless card, or a USB dongle for either LAN or WLAN.
