Project Zero PC

UrbanFreestyle

GOOOODDD Morning,

So i thought i would start a build log to track my progress of Project Zero, the zero cost PC*!

I have been involved in IT for a long time now and used some truly amazing kit but never had the fortune to build myself the latest and greatest. Due to that i thought i would try to look at things a little differently in 2019 and try to build something for as close to free as possible. I have (as i think many of us do) a lot of spare older IT kit ranging from DDR3 ram, 4th gen processors, hard drives etc and i thought, Why not put these to use and see if i can trade up.

I have come a long way and amassed most of the parts needed for a decent gaming / photo editing rig.

I have setup a facebook page so i can easily document the build as well as here and interact with people. I would appreciate some love, likes and sharing if you have the time.

At the moment i dont have any sponsors on board and whilst i wouldnt turn down the help it isnt the aim of the project. This is currently totally unsponsored so unbiased.

Does a net 0 count as well? Like trading a recycled PC for a graphics card or selling a recycled PC and using that money to buy a component? Getting a fun scrapyard wars vibe here.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Funily enough i traded out 5x HDD and some ram for a power supply and have sold some old processors to get a NAS (for cheap drives)

Still have a lot of old kit left so hopefully i can finish getting the parts soon! ?

I have lots of old parts as well, I think i'll try doing this too. Though my state is not very tech savvy, I cant even find a radeon 200 series around here, even radeon HD cards are hard to find.
