Which one?

So i'm going to be upgrading my monitor in like 2-3 weeks so i have some time to think but right now i've found these 2 monitors
i want over 144hz for more competitive games, a good response time, 27 inches

The two monitors i've found is: Asus 27" LED VG278QR or Asus 27" LED VG279Q, basically the difference between them is 1920x1080, TN, 165hz, 0.5ms or 1920x1080 IPS, 144hz, 1ms
I don't know if the extra 21hz is going to be noticable or if the better colors will be more valuable, i edit videos and photos multiple times a week but i also play a lot of games (mainly shooters but other stuff as well)
There's only a 30$ difference so the price doesn't really matter.

If you edit photos and vdeo, there really isn't a choice.  Unless you edit just for fun.

 

For gaming, either works.

I'd definitly stick with the IPS pannel!

Especially since you said you want to edit Photos.

The color is usually just way better on IPS pannels, and depending on your system you won't even reach the constant 144hz in many games.

If you are editing photos and videos then a tn panel is not the way to go tbh. I would get the ips if you care about color being accurate and vibrant. I love my tn monitor for gaming but it doesn't look nearly as good as a ips display in terms of color and my tn monitor is know as being one of the better th panels for colors.

i do have a second IPS monitor though but i have it off to the side so it would be nicer with my main monitor being IPS for when i'm editing, i play a lot of games as well though so not sure if i can benefit from the extra hz, not sure if it's gonna be a noticeable difference though, i play fairly competitively but no e-sports level so don't need anything insane.

Right now i got a RTX 2060, an i7 4770 and 16gb ram. So i can reach 144fps in the games i play and in some games even 165, but still not sure if the extra hz is neccecary or what's better ingame, TN or IPS

Yeah that's what i'm thinking as well. But i do have an IPS screen as my second monitor, but which panel would be better for gaming? does it really matter ingame which panel i have? if it doesn't i think i'll go with IPS, otherwise i have some thinking to do. Since i play more games than i edit

Not to be a dick, but this is the type of shit you could have put in the first post.  

 

Technically you can reach the FPS targets but WITH SETTINGS TURNED DOWN.  Which really is a waste of your eye balls and a good monitor.  Like stripping a car down to go faster, but do you.

 

No, it really doesn't matter ingame which panel you get.  They're going to both be really good.  Do you want a BMW or Mercedes?  Personal preference.

Yeah i just figured people would assume i could reach the required fps due to the specs of the monitors i'm looking at, but i'll keep that in mind in future posts. The games i (and most other people. Not all the time, but most of the time) play competitively is usually older games which are easier to run (csgo, lol, etc) so graphics isn't really a big issue and in games i play casually high fps/refresh rate isn't as important imo.

But what i was wondering is more about the different panels and if the 21hz difference is noticable. Since IPS is usually darker in dark areas (from my experience) and TN's are usally brighter

The hz difference won't be noticeable. If anything the response time will be noticeable but unless you are really into competitive gaming I don't think it really matters.
