You'll be fine for now, however the cpu will bottleneck you in some games. I'd suggest upgrading the cpu when you can. 16GB off RAM is the sweet spot right now.

yes it will work. though that cpu will kill the 2080 in terms of performance

using this site https://thebottlenecker.com/calculator

your cpu is going to be bottlenecking your gpu by 40%

if you haven't got the 2080 yet id advise going for something lower end and a better cpu to have a more balanced approach

if you want to go for something completely overkill then that'd be fine though if you use the site i mentioned in my previous post, enter your current specs;

it will give you a few options to get the most out of your money.

That said. if money isn't an object for you then sure go for the i9-9700

Definately, however depending on settings you should be able to get 60fps with the 7400 even with the cpu bottlenecking. Must older games should run fine though.

What motherboard do you have? You may not need to upgrade everything just yet. The 7700k should run BF5 at max everything at 1440p over 100fps.

Plug the 2080 in, play some BFV and see if you get acceptable frames rates. If so you can hold off on the cpu upgrade for a little longer.

looks fine for now, the CPU might bottleneck in some games but the overall performance of your PC will be good
